There are a number of big DIY store names we associate with good quality and reliability – but at very reasonable prices; and now that they have entered the made to measure shutter market we can expect bespoke shutters to become ever more affordable. How do they do this?
It is partly economy of scale. Due to their size and large throughput, these huge chains have access to some of the best prices around. This means that the prices are kept realistic and within the budget of many householders.
Secondly, they supply shutters for self-installation so you do not have to pay for an expensive fitter to come and install them. This is opening up a whole new market for people who are good at DIY and can install them themselves.
These stores don't leave you on your own, though, as they give detailed advice on how to measure the shutters correctly and how to install them. It is not as hard as you think and if you have completed other successful DIY projects around the house, you should be able to tackle this little problem.
